Welcome to Lowlands Apothecary & Gifts. My name is Shayne Wilkins-Haigh, and my path into natural healthcare has been anything but linear.

My journey began as a rebellious young adult, determined not to follow in my mother’s footsteps. Instead, I chose culinary school—and quickly fell in love with food. I spent the next decade working in hot, fast-paced kitchens, where I learned discipline, creativity, and the deep connection between nourishment and care.

Eventually, I felt called back toward healthcare, though I wasn’t sure where to begin. Looking for a practical path forward, I chose massage therapy—what I thought would be a simple, grounded way to help people. It turned out to be much more than that.

After graduating, I began working in an occupational and hand therapy clinic, where I learned how powerful massage can be—not just for relaxation, but for rehabilitation, injury prevention, and long-term wellness. It was there that my perspective on care truly expanded.

Encouraged by my supervisor to broaden my scope, I returned to school—this time blending my love of food with science. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science through Bastyr University, where I explored a wide range of healing modalities. It was during this time that I discovered herbalism, which opened the door to a more holistic and intuitive approach to wellness.

Since then, I’ve continued to build a practice that reflects all of these experiences. Today, I offer massage therapy for stress relief, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and immune support. I also use my background in physical activity to help others improve mobility, recover from chronic conditions, and reconnect with their bodies.

My foundation in food continues to guide me as well—I love helping others learn how to grow, harvest, and prepare nourishing meals, and understand the role nutrients play in overall health.

Lowlands Apothecary & Gifts grew naturally from this path. I create small-batch bath and body products using gentle, natural ingredients, with a focus on supporting sensitive skin and offering simple, intentional care.

When I’m not working in these spaces, I’m creating art—another form of expression and exploration. My mediums shift over time, but currently I’m painting with acrylics as I learn mural work, and experimenting with resin.

This blog is an extension of everything I’ve learned and continue to explore. It’s a space where I can share knowledge, offer guidance, and stay connected—whether that’s through skincare, wellness, food, or creativity.

I also hope to use this space to share updates on new products, projects, and inspirations along the way.

If you’re seeking gentle, intentional care, I invite you to explore my small-batch creations or follow along here as I continue to share what I’ve learned. This space was created to support you—wherever you are on your journey.

Until next time, enjoy the endless possibilities life has to offer.
